Did you know?
I love deadlines. I especially love the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Playing the game

Imagine, a football match, no matter what code, scores are level and only a few minutes to full time, anybody’s game and the players are tiring after a hard fought match and running on adrenalin. As a spectator you are also pumping adrenalin as the excitement builds up. You know the game can be won or lost because of a poor refereeing decision, a momentary loss of concentration by one player or tired legs not responding as the player would want. No matter who wins you would call it a good game because it was exciting and got your adrenalin going, remember that at the start of the game you did not know the result. But what if you had recorded the game to watch at a convenient time and before you got to watch it someone told you the score, would you still have the same interest in watching it, the excitement would be missing even if you did watch, wouldn’t it?

What has this got to do with the game we play? You have 10 minutes playing time left before you got to logoff and you want to sell some stuff or level up. You only need a few exp for your target or sell some stuff so you can buy that better wep or armour. OK there’s not much you can do about the xp except really go for it, and as you get closer excitement builds and adrenalin flows, you are selling stuff and getting a good price, only a couple of hundred gp to go.

Up pops a random event and you have to burst balloons, catch cooked fish for a pesky cat ( I would love to kill that cat!) or grab a twin sister, and then “update in 2:29 minutes”. You could still do it except for a ‘poor refereeing or lapse in concentration or tired legs’ brings your plan undone. When you logon next you would still have the interest but without the excitement of achieving your goal.

Yeah, sure you could buy gp but what is the point when you lose out on the sense of achievement and the excitement of getting close to your target, that is what playing the game is all about really.

Feeding and keeping healthy

Have you ever been in a fight and needed to take on some food? Do you feed whilst continuing to fight? Actually you stop fighting whilst you feed but your opponent does not and he scores hitpoints while you feed, sometimes more than the healing value of the food. So what do you do? Retreat from the fight just far enough to stop your opponents attack–feed– then attack again without losing hitpoints, this also works for taking pots.

Mage

I don’t do much mage in combat but use mage a lot for teleporting, superheating and enchanting jewellery, From what little combat mage that I have done I understand why mages hide behind barriers such as fences and stuff. In close combat they have little defence against melee.

Arrogant?

I have read criticism that high level players are arrogant, whilst this is true of some it is not true of all of them. Face it though, haven’t they earned that privilege? and it is not only high level players that are arrogant. Have you ever helped someone with their problem and not even got ‘ty’ when they disappeared never to be seen again. I have helped with information, quests and even items and all I expect in return is “ty”. Hey! it is only three key strokes! So now I feel disinclined to help and if this is interpreted as arrogance — tough.

Bored?

Bored? Then go on a quest. They all offer a challenge and some good rewards when completed. You need to complete some quests to be able to engage in some skills or to get around or even to be able to wear certain armour or clothes. They can be fun but at times frustrating too but always rewarding. Sure, they make you think and that has got to be good for you.

Begging

We’ve all seen them, beggars, and frankly they disgust me. They start in very predictable fashion and say things like “You’re cool” “do you want a gf” “I got hacked” “I’m poor” “I need help”.By Guthix, if they need to beg in a game what are they like in real life? And if you take pity on them more fool you, cos they always want more!I enjoy some of the responses these beggars get though, like one was told ‘go and pick flax’ and another ‘why should I work so that you get it easy’ and ‘if you want what I’ve got then do as I do’

Scammer!

How about the guy standing in a Varrock bank selling (or trying to) “an invisible kite shield”

Did he get reported? you bet, probably more than once! His scam was more transparent than the ‘invisible kite shield’ :-{)

Junk Mail

When you get those “pre-approved” letters in the mail for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope.
Most of these come with postage-prepaid return envelopes, right? It costs them more than the regular postage “IF” and when they receive them back.

It costs them nothing if you throw them away! In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-prepaid return envelopes.
Send an ad for your local chimney cleaner to American Express.
Send a pizza coupon to Citibank.
If you didn’t get anything else that day, then just send them their blank application back!
If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn’t on anything you send them.
You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! It still costs them!
The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their own junk back in the mail, but folks, we need to OVERWHELM them.

Let’s let them know what it’s like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they’re paying for it… Twice!

Let’s help keep the Postal Services busy since they are saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, and that’s why they need to increase postage costs again. You get the idea!

If enough people follow these tips, it will work —- maybe you’ll get very little junk mail anymore.

Above all these actions cost YOU nothing!!

Telemarketers

Revenge on the Telemarketer

Three Little Words That Work!!

(1) The three little words: “Hold On, Please…”
Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off instead of hanging-up immediately would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.
Then when you eventually hear your Telco’s “beep-beep-beep” tone, you know it’s time to go back and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task.
These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting.

(2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end?
This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone. This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a “real” sales person to call back and get someone at home.
What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialled the call and it kicks your number out of their system.
Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer!!!

Sheepherder

What a lot of stupid sheep but face it they are not well are they? When I first started this quest I didn’t know that there is a special prod and I was trying to prod them with weapons like a mithril spear that I got from the mossies, getting really frustrated! Then a lvl 32 told me of the right prod and where to get it. Hooray, we are in business and we worked together to get those sheep into the paddock. Two people working together makes it a lot easier and turns frustration into fun!
